Project brief

Two finished floors, two shelled — and a working courthouse below.

W&J Construction added four new courtrooms to the existing Brevard County Courthouse in Viera — 60,000 square feet of new construction adjacent to a fully operational judicial facility.

The project provides two finished floors with four new courtrooms, a Clerk's Office, Hearing and Deliberation rooms, Court Administration areas, and Witness Conference rooms. The bottom two floors remain unfinished for future office space. The surveillance system includes courtroom audio and video; the security system provides access control and duress signaling.

The expansion ties into the existing chilled-water system for heating and air conditioning. There is no shutting the courthouse down.

Tying new mechanical, electrical, and security infrastructure into a live facility — on a civic schedule — is a specific discipline. Coordinate with bailiffs, not just subs. Phase drywall around court calendars. Keep every punch item traceable. Deliver.
